Charlie got in touch asking for some application photos to get him into some shows this year, of course, I was more than happy to oblige.
I already had an idea in mind which involved some light painting and saw it as the perfect opportunity to have a go. So we met up in Peterborough under sub-zero temperatures and got to work. I also brought along Ben from Last Man Standing to shoot some video on his RED Epic. Here are the results.
. Audi A3 S-Line
. Hydro Suspension from Rayvern Hydraulics
. Stage 2 Remap @ 220 bhp Maxtreme, Wisbech
. Milltek Exhaust / Ram Air Induction Kit
. Dipped Engine Bay / Rotiform BLQ's

For the light painting I used on old LED video light I've had for years. It's the cheap one you can pick up on Amazon that takes about 20 AA batteries, but it gives off a good amount of light. I figured I'd try it with this before making any rash decisions and going for a more expensive light. I took multiple exposures and lit up different areas of the car.
Whilst I was processing the images I figured that although the amount of light the LED put out was good, it was too small of a source to produce nice, even lines over the car. So I ended up with much thinner light trails, this is ok, but not quite the effect I was after. I know what I'm going to try next so will have an update on my technique then.
For the main feature shot I used the Sigma 24-70mm to get a nice wide shot and wanted to make sure I had the train in focus in the background so shot at f22 with 30 second exposures. The rest of the images were all taken with my 50mm f1.4 using the LED to cast extra light on the car.
